Progressives: Raghbir Singh as Manurewa candidate
Progressive selects Raghbir Singh as Manurewa candidate
The Progressive party has selected candidates to
campaign for party votes in the Manurewa electorate in this
year's election, says party president Grant Gillon.
"Our canvassing in and around Auckland has found good recognition of the achievements of Jim Anderton and Matt Robson in government, from establishing Kiwibank to winning working people Four Weeks Annual Leave, and from establishing a framework to propel industry and regional development to the campaign against alcohol and other drug abuse.
"The challenge for our candidates is to attract party votes for the Progressive party so that we can continue to deliver forward-looking economic and social policies for New Zealand," Grant Gillon said.
"Progressive policies this election include doubling the number of apprenticeships and having everyone under 20 in a job, education or training. Our tertiary policy is to cut the debt burden for graduates prepared to work and use their skills in New Zealand and our programme to reduce youth binge drinking includes tighter restrictions on liquor advertising and raising the alcohol purchasing," he said.
