Bali Explosions - 2 October 2005 Update 11am
At least three bombs exploded in Bali at 8.00pm local time on 1 October, at Kuta and Jimbaran. Several deaths and injuries have occurred. At this stage there are no reports of New Zealand casualties.
New Zealand Embassy staff from Jakarta, now in Bali, are continuing to check hospitals for casualties.
New Zealanders concerned about family and friends in Kuta and Jimbaran should try to contact them directly, in the first instance. Communications, however, remain difficult.
New Zealanders with concerns may also call the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on 0800 432 111 (from overseas +64 4 439 8401).
New Zealanders in Bali are advised to exercise extreme caution and remain in their hotels for the time being. They are urged to contact family and friends in New Zealand to advise them they are safe.
