Rod Donald was a ‘friend of the house of labour’ - union
New Zealand’s largest union is shocked and saddened by the sudden death today of Green Party co-leader Rod Donald, saying that in his passing it has lost a friend.
“Rod Donald was a great friend of the house of labour,” said Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little.
“He was a staunch supporter of New Zealand manufacturing and of keeping jobs in New Zealand, and his advocacy on these issues will be hugely missed.”
Mr Little said that Mr Donald’s recent support of the union in its battle to keeping Air New Zealand engineering jobs here was particularly appreciated.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to Mr Donald’s family and Green Party colleagues,” he said.
