High Commission Assistance To New Zealand Man

North London health authorities informed New Zealand’s High Commission in London yesterday that a New Zealander was one of six men admitted to hospital after taking part in a clinical drug trial.
Authorities also advised the High Commission a relative of the man had been informed.
The man remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. He is conscious and has spoken to hospital staff.
He has a support person with him at the hospital. A High Commission consular officer has been in touch with health authorities and has offered assistance to both the man and his support person.
High Commission staff will remain in contact with authorities, to ensure assistance is provided if required and that relatives are informed.
The High Commission has been advised by the hospital that the man has not at this stage asked that anyone in New Zealand be contacted.
For privacy reasons, hospital authorities are not releasing details about the six patients.
