Harsher Sentencing For Violent Offenders

Harsher Sentencing For Violent Offenders

Prison = Clothes, Food, Bed, TV, Books, Recreation = Comfort.

Our justice system is in an appalling state at present, with 70% of violent criminals having had 10 or more previous convictions.

Why isn't the government making some obvious changes in the prison system?

Life has to mean Life

If you commit a violent crime you should not only have Life imprisonment with no chance of parole - but the quality of the imprisonment is based on privileges. Make prisoners responsible and have consequences for non compliance to rehab and bad behaviour etc. Have the option to gain certain privileges like TV for good behaviour. For some people having a TV in our own room is a luxury and one which some of us can not afford, so why is my tax dollar going to fund items like these?

70% of violent criminals have had more than 10 convictions -how many crimes do they have to commit before we say enough is enough?
Why are they given these lenient sentences and Parole being seen as a given not a process to be earned.

The way the law treats these criminals is a laughing stock. I read somewhere that a criminal received $45,000 compensation for being released 129 days late! What do the victims get? They have to fight to get ACC for counselling. Pathetic, we should be ashamed of ourselves.

We are hearing about more and more of these violent drug & Alcohol induced crimes and we as a society have somewhat accepted that this is the price of living in a modern, civilised world. We have gone way too PC ..it's not PC it's BS!

What do we tell ourselves to make it acceptable that someone who commits horrific crimes have the same rights as a person who makes a conscious choice to be lawful?

The advantages of keeping someone in prison longer are obvious. People can start to feel safe and secure in their homes and streets.

We are a group of concerned citizens called Justus. We have supporters from around the country who share the same view that our Prison system has to change and NOW! We are interested in hearing from likeminded people who want to get involved in the community to help us in our Petition for harsher sentencing.
