Leniency in Our Prisons

Violent crime is on the increase along with drug and alcohol abuse and domestic violence. There is no deterrent harsh enough to stop criminal behaviour and even more importantly – to stop re offending. Crime becomes a means to an end, a career and a way of life almost a character trait. Because Criminal activity can be carried out alongside legitimate activities a blurring of ethics between each other occurs.

Parole is a right not a privilege & home detention is available to violent offenders…WHY? They can apply 5 months before they become eligible for parole. That means a rapist given 9 years could be on home detention restrained only by a bracelet 2 years and 9 months after being arrested.

Over 80% of violent offenders will re offend within 5 years of being released. Our tax dollars are paying for this over and over again. Enough is Enough..

We need harsher sentencing for violent offenders, and Life to Mean LIFE and the quality of imprisonment should be based on privileges. As drugs or alcohol seem to be a major factor in a violent crime every inmate should have mandatory Drug and Alcohol rehab from the moment they arrive.

We are a group of concerned citizen called Justus. We have supporters from around the country who share the same view that our Prison system has to change and NOW! We are interested in hearing from likeminded people who want to get involved in the community to help us in our Petition for harsher sentencing.

It is our job as a community to make the lawmakers understand that having a safer community should be their number one priority.
