Electronic access to legal information improved
Online access to legal
information has been enhanced with changes to the LawAccess
website www.lawaccess.lsa.govt.nz .
The improvements to the site include a new glossary of commonly used legal terms. You'll be able to get definitions of phrases like 'burden of proof' and 'reasonable doubt'.
The Strategic Development Manager at the Legal Services Agency, Frances Blyth says, "These changes are the result of feedback from organisations that provide content on the site. They wanted a site that was more user-friendly with colour and new information."
Ms Blyth says, "A new database of useful freephone numbers has also been introduced. Organisations on the database include the Office of the Children's Commissioner, the Police Complaints Authority, the Employment Relations Service and the Medical Council."
"LawAccess can put you in touch with Community Law Centres and can now link to the Citizen's Advice Bureau network so you can find out who to talk to in your community about legal issues."
LawAccess is an online catalogue of New Zealand law-related information. It is a gateway to resources of more than 150 government and non-government agencies with information on rights and responsibilities under specific laws.
