Vigil For Victims Of Children's Home Bombing
Vigil For Victims Of Children's Home Bombing
On the morning of 14th August 2006 around 7.30 AM, four of Sri Lanka’s Air Force Kfir fighter planes, went straight to Kilinochchi air space and dropped 16 bombs into Chencholai. Chencholai is a children’s home where over 400 girls from adjoining schools had gone to get two days residential training in community leadership and first-aid. As a result of the attack, 61 girls were killed and over 130 were injured, most very seriously.
The Tamil community in New Zealand are outraged by this and want the international community’s support in stopping such killings
The Tamil community will be holding prayers and two-days (day and night) continuous vigil - 2 days non-stop fast in protest.
