Young Nats Congratulate Key
The Young Nats today expressed their support for John Key, the new Leader of the NZ National Party. Mr Key was elected unopposed at a special caucus meeting this afternoon.
"John is extremely talented, and will bring much to the Party Leadership" says Young Nats President Matthew Patterson, who is currently attending an IYDU Conference in London.
"In particular, John's ability to relate to New Zealanders from all walks of life will be a great asset to the Party.
"From a youth perspective, we are grateful to have a Leader who can relate to younger Kiwis', and who understands the issues we face in our day to day lives" Mr Patterson says.
Vice-President Alex Mitchell is looking forward to working with Mr Key over the next few years.
"The Young Nats have a great relationship with John, and we intend to take advantage of that in pushing youth issues within the Party.
"We are sad to see Don go - he is a man of integrity whom the Party will miss greatly. The work he has put into rebuilding the National Party over the last four years will not be forgotten".
