Oliver Woods, Auckland University Students Association Executive, Labour Party member (speaking in a personal capacity).
Coral Wynter, Member of Australia's Democratic Socialist Perspective and Green Left Weekly reporter in Venezuela.

Every New Zealand Labour Party member has a party card claiming their party stands for "democratic socialist principles".

According to Labours Constitution and Rules, it aims:
To educate the public in the principles and objectives of democratic socialism and economic and social co-operation. These principles and objectives include: equal access to all social, economic, cultural, political and legal spheres, regardless of wealth or social position People are always more important than property and the state must ensure a just distribution of wealth The Treaty of Waitangi should be honoured in government, society and the family.

Seven years of Labour government has seen: growing inequality, soaring profits, while wages stagnate, house prices spiralling out of reach, rising fees for education, confiscation of Maori rights to the seabed and foreshore, plus more restrictions on workers' right to strike.
