Motor Vehicle Crashes in New Zealand 2006 released

The Ministry of Transport is pleased to announce the release of Motor
Vehicle Crashes in New Zealand 2006.

Each year, the Ministry produces an annual statistical statement on road
crashes in New Zealand, providing a summary of when, where and how road
crashes happen, and the road users who were involved.

As well as road crash statistics, it includes national hospital, breath
and blood alcohol and comparative international statistics which relate
to road crashes. There is also a section that provides statistics from
the Ministry's annual surveys of safety belt, child restraint and cycle
helmet use, and vehicle speed surveys. Another short section presents
tables that show the number of licensed drivers by age group, and the
size of the New Zealand vehicle fleet.

The publication is available on the Ministry of Transport website
www.transport.govt.nz .
