Violent crime: P is not the Excuse – it's the Reason
Following the violent death of the Manurewa Bottle Store owner, Police have warned that “the robbers would not get away with using methamphetamine or P as an excuse for the unjustified shooting of a man who was doing everything they had told him to do.”
Such a statement implies a misunderstanding of how dangerous the Users of P are, and they are ignored while Police direct all their efforts towards targeting Dealers and Manufacturers.
P users are walking time bombs, having damaged their brains to the extent that they have lost control over emotion and temper. This is what allows them to commit these types of crime with no remorse.
The legislation is in place – using P is against the law. We need this to be implemented so that P users are intercepted before they get to the stage where these crimes are committed.
Failure to do this is a failure to protect our communities, and will continue to result in the maiming and murder of innocent people.
Fight Against P urges Police to reconsider their priorities and introduce measures which see them working with families and communities towards upholding the law and intervening in P use.
