Young Labour Urges Workers to Wake Up to National Policy

Young Labour is calling on New Zealand workers to stand up and take notice of the National Party's plan of attack on them and their colleagues.

Young Labour’s Trade Union Representative, James Sleep said, “In an unsurprising slip, the National Party has announced plans to hold onto their 90 day probationary policy. This policy strips the rights of workers away from them in their first 90 days of employment. It’s a shambles.”

Sleep added, "This policy takes away the rights of all new employees in a workplace with less than 20 unionised staff; they would effectively be open to unfair, unjustified dismissal. It’s frankly piss poor policy.”

"The Nats want us to believe that under a National government we will see wage growth and higher living standards. But their dismal attempts at policy contradict that. It’s our fundamental belief that workers rights give security and create fairness. These are conditions which lift wages and living standards. The Nats with their short sighted, profit driven perspective will trample workers,” said Sleep.

Young Labour promotes the rights of all workers and encourages people to support a political party that does the same, "Workers rights will be put on the back burner by this John Key led National Party. It is paramount workers stand up for their rights, because workers rights are human rights!” Sleep concluded.
