Child Safety Paramount

Childrens safety demands that we always act in their best interests.

Police in Masterton are said to be bending the rules around information sharing to curb domestic violence in their region.

Sometimes this information sharing is in the best interests of the child. CPS, a charitable trust dedicated to preventing harm to children applauds people who share information and concerns about children.

“Whenever a child is hurt or killed” says CEO of CPS Anthea Simcock “there is always an adult who knew something was wrong. Too often though they either did not know what to do or believed they had no right to pass on their concerns.”

The law allows people to share information with the Police and CYF about children they believe are in danger. Such people are protected by law (Under section 15 of the Children Young People and their Families Act 1989) if they do so in good faith even if it turns out there was no need for concern.

CPS encourages everyone who cares about children to take action if ever they are concerned. If unsure CPS is happy to provide support in taking that next step.
