TVNZ Commits To A Multi Party Leaders Debate
Despite Prime Minister Helen Clark and Opposition Leader John Key refusing to appear in an ELECTION '08 All Leaders Debate, TVNZ is committed to allowing New Zealanders to hear campaign details from the leaders of the other parties.
TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs Anthony Flannery said today that although it's disappointing that Clark and Key will not share the stage, New Zealand voters will still benefit from an election campaign debate featuring the other party leaders.
"TVNZ is committed to providing a prime time platform and voice for the other leaders" says Flannery. "One of the these parties could determine the make up of the next government and New Zealanders will be interested in what they have to say and particularly about their relationships with Labour and National."
The debate is scheduled for Monday, 27 October, 7.00 – 8.30pm on TV ONE.
