Family Party courts public in Porirua
Leader Richard Lewis presented the Family Party message to 120 locals in Porirua last night.
Speaking at the Pataka Museum, Mr Lewis explained the Family Party strategy to win key seats in Mangere and East Coast Bays.
"Over the last 12 months the Family Party has undertaken a realistic strategy that involves targeting winnable seats through Paul Adams in East Coast Bays Jerry Filipaina in Mangere. In this way, you have every confidence that giving your party vote to the Family Party will result in more pro-family MP's in Parliament because winning a seat removes the formidable five percent threshold," says Mr Lewis.
Manukau candidate Poutoa Papalii shared with the predominantly pacific audience how his decision to move from Labour to the Family Party was to recover the traditional values of Pacific peoples and to get behind a party with the strong family focus.
"I became increasingly frustrated at the anti-family of laws coming from the Labour-led Government that in my view undermined the Christian values of our forefathers and healthy family life. It's time to come back to the basics and put families first. I am convinced that the cause of Pacific families is best realised through the Family Party and that is why I am standing and proud to be ranked at number five on the party list," said Mr Papalii.
A highlight of the event was a video endorsement from Laughing Samoan's frontman, Tofiga Fepuleai.
