Debating a Progressive Alternative to Labour

Politicians will converge on the Southern Cross Bar on Labour Day to debate what is needed for a progressive alternative to the Labour Party.

"I don't believe that the Labour Party is fundamentally a party of the left or capable of progressive change" says Joel Cosgrove, one of the organisers of the event.

"On the left of Labour you have discussions of revolutionary change, environmental change, social democratic change and others. I want to get these ideas flowing and debated." states Cosgrove.
Debate will focus initially on the topics "What does the term 'left-wing' mean to you and your party" and "what does progressive change mean to you and your party and how would you envisage carrying it out".

A lively debate is anticipated, with an open floor expected to bring up many varied points of discussion amongst both the representatives and the audience itself.

"It's good to see that the Workers Party, Maori Party, The Alliance, Greens and the Residents' Action Movement all coming along, this should be an electric, engaging and interesting debate." says Cosgrove
