Britain’s Attorney General arrives

Britain’s Attorney General The Rt Hon The Baroness Scotland QC will arrive in New Zealand this weekend to begin a round of meetings and speeches in Auckland and Wellington.

The Baroness is the first female and ethnic minority person to hold the post of Attorney General in the United Kingdom. Since she was appointed by Prime Minister Gordon Brown she has forged a reputation as a tough minded reformer.

The Attorney General will have talks with her counterpart in New Zealand the Hon Christopher Finlayson and former Prime Minister and constitutional law expert Sir Geoffrey Palmer.

The Baroness Scotland was born in Dominica in the West Indies in 1955 and moved to London when she was three.
