Statement on Budget 2009
The Foundation for Youth Development welcomes the Government’s focus on education and youth unemployment in its 2009 Budget and believes that this a step along the road to achieving the best outcomes for New Zealand’s young people.
Graeme Dingle, Foundation for Youth Development Co-Founder and Mountaineer, said “We are pleased that, in the 2009 Budget, the Government has invested in the future of young New Zealanders. We are also pleased to see the Budget tackling growing levels of youth unemployment and implementing measures to address it.”
“In these difficult economic times, it is imperative that we are all doubly vigilant that money is being spent where it is needed. Focus on the development of youth must be maintained so our young people are given every opportunity to achieve their potential, so they become the positive force in our society that we need them to be.”
