Dan Carter Joins Cupcake Crusade

All Black boosts the line-up for the SPCA's First National Cupcake Day

Dan Carter is joining the Cupcake Crusade this coming Monday (31st August), selling scrumptious cupcakes to help raise funds for the SPCA.

The All Black will be running a cake stall, from 10.00 am onwards, outside his clothing store, GAF, at 20, Nuffield Street, Newmarket, in support of the Royal New Zealand SPCA's inaugural national Cupcake Day.

Visitors to the stall will not only be able to purchase cupcakes galore and/or make a donation to the SPCA. They will also have the opportunity to be photographed with Dan Carter, with the help of cameras kindly donated for the day by Fuji.

"I love animals, I love the SPCA and I'm really excited to be part of Cupcake Day," says Dan.

Between 8,000 and 9,000 cupcakes have been produced for Auckland alone by volunteer cooks from AUT, Sky City and a range of other organisations and businesses.

Meanwhile, dozens of other baking aficionados have been mixing-it in kitchens across New Zealand and are poised to descend on their schools, workplaces and social groups on Monday, armed with batches of delicious cakes to sell on behalf of the SPCA.

"Thanks to our volunteer cooks, the cupcakes aren't costing the SPCA anything. This means that all the money raised by Cupcake Day, will go directly to funding our work with animals," says the Society's National Chief Executive, Robyn Kippenberger.

"Our role has never been more important, given the rise of 40 percent in animal abuse cases reported during the first four months of this year. We need all the support we can get, if we're to bring those responsible to justice and help educate our young people towards a more caring and compassionate approach to animals.

"Cupcake Day is both a great opportunity to help the SPCA and a chance to savour some truly delicious cakes. There's never been a better excuse for spoiling yourself in a good cause," Robyn adds.
