At Least Do the Job Properly Paula
“It is very encouraging that the National government is making it harder for beneficiaries to receive taxpayer money but all this tinkering is pointless - and quite possibly damaging - unless other issues are addressed first,” said Peter Osborne, Libertarianz Social Welfare Spokesman, today.
“If we understand that most unemployed people are often vulnerable and powerless to control their own circumstances, then it would make sense to ensure that opportunities are abundant and that needless barriers are removed before pushing people down a road of self autonomy.”
“For a start, the minimum wage should be removed along with all employment, compliance and pointless health and safety laws as they only serve to remove employment opportunities.”
“The sheer size of government bureaucracy must not so much be trimmed but summarily hung, drawn and quartered. The enormous cost of our bloated government ensures that those of us who are employed see a large percentage of our paycheck taken to be divvied out to any lost cause you may wish to mention.”
“This wealth is taken from the businessman who would otherwise expand his business. This lost wealth is taken from the teacher who wishes to start up a new, innovative school. This lost wealth is taken from the parents who would dearly love to send their children to a new and innovative school. It is taken from the person who wants to build a new home or improve her existing one.”
“Thanks to our inflated government we have not only lost our true wealth but we have all lost our right to control our own lives. As a consequence, this means that the most vulnerable among us must rely on welfare for the support that the rest of us have no opportunity to provide.”
Mr Osborne concludes, “Libertarianz understands that along with state controlled education, the welfare state is a destructive social experiment. 345,000 beneficiaries in a population of 4 million is testament to this. If helping people who don’t work is such a commendable idea then why must it be compulsory?”
“It is time that our government stopped controlling everything we do and forcing their ideas on us. The evidence is there to see. To avoid being led into the swamp we only need to open our eyes and reset our own individual courses.”
