Te Puni Kōkiri welcomes new Deputy Secretary for Relationships and Information Wahanga

Leith Comer, Chief Executive of Te Puni Kōkiri today announced the appointment of Mr Herewini Te Koha as Deputy Secretary for the Relationships and Information Wahanga.

“I am delighted to be able to welcome back someone of Herewini’s calibre to help us lead the work of Te Puni Kōkiri,” Leith Comer said.

“During the 1990s, Herewini held various roles within Te Puni Kōkiri, including Branch Manager Corporate Services.”

After leaving Te Puni Kōkiri in 1996, Herewini continued his public sector career with the Office of Treaty Settlements before moving into management consulting in 1999.

In 2004 Herewini returned to the public sector as interim chief executive of Te Māngai Pāho, the Māori language broadcasting funding agency. He later served on that agency’s board before stepping down in 2008.

“Herewini brings with him a nice balance of public, private and iwi experience,” Leith Comer said.

Herewini, a Māori language speaker, takes up his role on 10 May 2010. He is married to Kim Ngarimu and they have four children.
