Barnett drops out of Auckland elections
Citizens & Ratepayers President John Slater confirmed today that Michael Barnett has withdrawn from the race to be a Councillor representing the Waitemata & gulf Ward in the new Auckland Council for health reasons.
Michael's withdrawal will be a significant loss to our C&R team.
His experience, skills and contribution have been at a high level for almost nine years in local government, especially in the areas of economic development and transport.
Michael has some bigger challenges to deal with over the next few months which necessitates "time out" from his role as ARC Councillor and political career.
We are sure that Michael's well-known determination, tenacity and positive attitude will equip him well for the challenges ahead of him.
The Executive and members of Citizens &
ratepayers express our very best wishes to Michael and his
family in the time
ahead.
