Dakta Green Sentenced Tomorrow
High profile cannabis law reform campaigner and founder of the cannabis club The Daktory, Dakta Green, is to appear in the Auckland District Court at 9:00am tomorrow morning (Wednesday, May 12) to be sentenced on charges of selling cannabis dating to August, 2007.
Dakta Green has just completed a two week tour of the North Island in NORML's CannaBus and collected 2500 public submissions to the Law Commission's review of drug laws. The majority of the New Zealand public, he said, are now strongly in support of ending cannabis criminalisation.
"There are 400,000 regular cannabis smokers right now in this country who do not deserve to be treated as second-class citizens simply for choosing to use a drug that's proven less harmful than both alcohol and tobacco", he said.
