Henderson Massey Resident Group Candidates
Allen Davies, John Riddell and Peter Chan are standing under the banner of the Henderson-Massey Residents Group to contest this years Local Government Elections.
All three are active members of the Community, and believe that their collective Community Board and Council experience will prove invaluable as Local Board members.
Advocacy for and on behalf of the Community is a key part of the job description, something all three have been doing for there Community over a number of years.
John Riddell is current Chairman of the Massey Community Board, and Allen Davies, is deputy Chairman, he has also been the Chairman in past years. Both have been involved on school committees or Boards of Trustees, Allen was a member of both the Massey Primary and Royal Road Primary School Committee’s and founding president of the Royal Road PTA, while John is a former Chair of both Don Buck Primary School Board of Trustees and the Massey High School Board of Trustees and still serves on the Don Buck Primary School Board. Peter Chan is involved in education through the West Auckland Education Trust.
Peter Chan, a present Councillor, assisted in the formation of the Waitakere Ethnic Board, He was the co-founder with his wife Audrey of the Auckland Lantern Festival, Waitakere Moon Festival and Northcote Chinese New Year Celebrations and founded the Waitakere Chinese Residents Association and is an executive member of the Cantonese Opera Society.
John Riddell is current Secretary/Treasurer of the Massey and Birdwood Settlers Association, one of the countries oldest resident and ratepayers associations having been formed in 1925. Current vocational Director of the Rotary Club of Waitakere City John is on the executive of the Auckland Car Club and the executive of the NZ Institute of Safety Managers Auckland Branch.
Allen Davies was a foundation member the Massey Athletic Club and is currently a Life Member, he was a charter member and a past President of the Lions Club of Massey and a past President of the Te Pai Tennis Club, he is also a long time member of the Massey & Birdwood Settlers Assoc. A Justice of the Peace, Allen Davies enjoys carrying out duties as a Marriage Celebrant.
