New Zealand Geographic Board Mourns Sir Archie Taiaroa
The death of New Zealand Geographic Board member Sir Archie Taiaoroa is a very great loss, Board Chairperson Dr Don Grant said today.
Sir Archie was appointed to the Board on 9 July this year, following nomination by the Minister of Māori Affairs. His appointment was the most recent of many positions he has held, reflecting his standing in the communities he served.
“This is a very great loss to Māoridom and to the Board,” Dr Grant said.
“Sir Archie had a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to share. In his short time with the Board he demonstrated a great level of insight and I looked forward to further contributions from him.
“On behalf of myself and the Board, I send my condolences to Sir Archie’s family and friends.”
