Migrant Action on Paul Henry’s slurs
The Migrant Action Trust wishes to express its utter disappointment, not only at Paul Henry's reference to the Governor General Anand Satyanand, but also at TVNZ's response to Mr Henry's references. As a public institution, TVNZ has a responsibility to ensure that it does not deny instances of racism and that it makes every effort to rid itself of such practices that exhibit such racism. Paul Henry's comments is an example of such an instance and TVNZ's complicity in upholding such comments through its lenient response to Mr Henry indicates that it is prepared to maintain the racist practices that seem to have become institutionalized in its organization.
The Migrant Action Trust would like TVNZ and Paul Henry to recognize their responsibilities in ensuring that all groups in society are not prejudiced or discriminated against.
