Announcement about contract management of prison
Corrections Minister Judith Collins announced today that global service provision company, Serco, had been selected as the contract partner appointed to manage Mt Eden/ACRP prison.
Serco is a service and outsourcing company that has been delivering essential public services for more than 40 years. The company has operations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and North America.
Serco operates four adult prisons and two youth offender facilities in the UK and two prisons in Australia. The handover to Serco will be in stages, with Serco taking responsibility for the site in August 2011.
The prison will, however, continue to operate within the current Corrections framework. All prisoners will remain the responsibility of the Department’s Chief Executive.
