The Wellington TPP Action Group marched and protested against Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement today outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington.
“The TPP is anti-democratic because the process is secret,” says Richard Slade spokesperson for the Wellington TPP Action Group “There is no transparency and no accountability. It signals death to democracy.
“This is no ordinary trade deal – it will have negative economic, social and environmental impacts for New Zealand. If the TPP is really so good for us, why are they scared to release the draft text and open it to scrutiny, at the very least.
“The TPP is bad for New Zealanders and bad for NZ businesses. We are asking New Zealanders to oppose the TPP – the one trade deal to rule them all. ”
Forty people protested outside MFAT at lunch-time today.
