MIDDLE – WAY POLICY
The Select Committee of Foreign Affairs, Defence and trade will meet on Thursday 7th April 2011 at 10 am at parliament to hear from Thuten Kesang.
He presented a petition to Parliament on 10th March 2011 through Miss Sue Kedgley the Chairperson for Parliamentary Lobby Group for Tibet. It asks the New Zealand government to support the Middle – Way Policy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to solve the issue between Tibet and China, so that a mutually agreeable solution can be negotiated.
Thuten Kesang said “I hope that the Government will support this petition and raise this issue with the Chinese Government. His Holiness’ Middle Way Approach is not seeking for independence for Tibet, but for the whole of Tibet to have self-government within the People’s Republic of China, similar to what Hong Kong has today.“
