Speaking this afternoon at Wellington’s “J-Day”, Mr Mansell announced that he will go on a hunger-strike if sentenced to prison.
Mr Mansell was explained that he was convicted for possessing instruments, being the spotting knives he used to smoke cannabis on the steps of the Wellington Central Police Station, in January 2010. He was sentenced to 100 hours community service, which he is refusing to do, on the grounds that he will not participate in his own punishment. He expects the breach of community service will be heard in August, when the Wellington District Court will have little option but to send him to prison.

al Mansell will next be speaking on Backbenches, TVNZ 7, 9 pm, Wednesday May 11.
