IWI LEADER NOT REAPPOINTED
At the recent Kawai Taumata meeting held on Friday 6th May, a decision was made not to reappoint Ngahiwi Tomoana onto the Board of Te Ohu Kaimoana of which Ngahiwi has served for four years, three as Deputy Chair and the past year as Chair.
Yesterday Ngahiwi Tomoana informed the Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated Board of this decision. He also asked the Board for temporary leave and in the interim requested that Deputy Chair Rill Meihana assume the role as Chair of the iwi Board. Ngahiwi requested that Rill continue the progress and aspirations of the iwi which has the third largest iwi population and the second longest coastline of any iwi.
