One News Budget Special 2-4pm Thursday
AMP Business host, Nadine Chalmers-Ross presents TV ONE's coverage of the election year budget. The ONE News Special: Budget 2011 is a two hour LIVE event that includes detail from the Finance Minister and analysis of it by leading economic, business and political commentators.
The 2011 Budget is being called the most important Government budget in 50 years, and Nadine Chalmers-Ross says she feels privileged to be part of it.
"Words like austere and black have been used to describe it as well, making it not only an important one, but possibly also an uncomfortable one for some."
"The Government faces a burgeoning deficit, blown out by the cost of two major earthquakes, and increasing losses associated with South Canterbury Finance.
"Its plan to address that gaping hole in its books will be scrutinised by the credit-rating agencies. I don't envy the Finance Minister's position because come budget day, he will be a bit like the grim reaper - everyone will be hoping he hasn't come for them or their money."
TV ONE'S coverage of the Budget 2011 starts at 2pm Thursday and runs through until 4pm.
