Goulter considering general election

Former Wanganui Mayoral Candidate, Jevan Goulter, has confirmed that he is speculating standing in the 2011 General Election this November.

While not confirming which seat he would contest he currently has his team doing the research and breaking down the numbers for a couple of different electorates.

“We borrow 380 million dollars a week and yet I know families who cannot afford bread and milk, yet John Key can paint premier house with a price tag that would feed 40 families for a year”

Goulter recently joined the newly formed Mana Movement claiming that leader Hone Harawira was a breath of fresh air while acknowledging that the movement had a lot of ideologies that Goulter supporter.

Goulter will not confirm nor deny at this stage whether he plans to run as an Independent or seek endorsement from the Mana Movement if he decides to run.

“There are more important things for me to focus on and more important things for the Mana Movement to focus on at the moment, with the most important being the Te Tai Tokerau by-election next month and winning that.”

Goulter is adamant that if he runs it will be because “the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer” along with the fact that “nobody in New Zealand should have to ever see the return of Don Brash to parliament with no opposition”.

Goulter will announce his decision in the coming weeks as to whether he intends to run or not.
