Response to Coroner’s findings in Halatau Naitoko shooting
The Chair of the Independent Police Conduct Authority, Justice Lowell Goddard, has issued the following statement in response to media inquiries following the release of the Coroner’s findings into the death of Halatau Naitoko:
“The Authority has remained in regular contact with Mr Naitoko’s family and has kept them informed of its investigation.
Authority investigators also attended the Coroner’s inquest.
Our investigation is complete, and the Authority is preparing its report for public release.
The Authority is required by its legislation to observe principles of natural justice and this process must be followed before the report is issued publicly.”
