All new regional road crash analysis reports now available
The NZ Transport Agency has published a
comprehensive new set of regional crash analysis reports to
provide a snapshot of road safety issues for regions across
New Zealand.
The production of the revamped regional crash analysis reports is part of the NZTA’s effort to reduce deaths and injuries from road crashes in New Zealand through the Government’s Safer Journeys road safety strategy.
The new reports identify key road safety issues and risk in 13 regions, offering a region-wide perspective for territorial authorities to monitor trends and track progress of road safety initiatives.
The reports are structured to reflect the safe system approach to reducing road trauma, with an emphasis on reducing the effects of crashes as well as the number of crashes, and an understanding that those who design and build the transport system share the responsibility with road users for reducing trauma.
Each of the 13 regional reports includes crash data for the five year period from 2006-2010. The reports will be updated annually.
