Tuesday, September 13, 2011
“The proposed outlandish Criminal Procedure (Reform & Moderation) Bill currently in its second reading in our Parliament goes against the grain of legal developments in common law, conventions, doctrines and precedents over thousands of years and must not be passed by all those people who believe in freedom, justice, human and legal rights,” said Alton Shameem JP, the New Zealander- Native Fijian, Community, Multi-Cultural, National and International Leader, Founder, Leader, Chairman and President of the All Ethnic Congress (AEC) in Auckland, the City of Rugby World Cup.
“This outrageous bill if passed in Parliament and then enacted into law will take away our fundamental rights, freedom of speech, is an abuse of human and legal rights and would be undemocratic and unconstitutional.
The Criminal Procedure Criminal Procedure (Reform & Moderation) Bill is an absolute attack on our centuries old legal system and the people want the right to remind silent intact as it is the bedrock of our criminal legal system” asserted Alton Shameem.
“New Zealanders have bravely and courageously fought in wars for our great country New Zealand so that we all can have freedom, human and legal rights, justice; and that the power is for the good of the people and not for the politicians to abuse” said Alton Shameem.
