Governor-General visits Dunedin
The Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, and Lady Janine Mateparae, will tomorrow undertake their first visit to Dunedin since being appointed last month.
“I want to meet as many New Zealanders as possible during the next five years and this visit represents the start of that endeavour. The visit is one that my wife Janine and I are very much looking forward to,” said Sir Jerry Mateparae.
Sir Jerry and Lady Janine will start by visiting King’s High School, and will also visit Montecillo Veterans' Home and Hospital to meet its residents.
As Patron of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award Programme, Scouting NZ and GirlGuiding NZ, the Governor-General will attend two award ceremonies to recognise high-achieving youth.
