Mana Wants Free Education For All
The MANA party says news that New Zealand has the 7th most expensive tuition in the OECD is a disgrace and indictment on successive governments. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10752019
MANA’s education spokesperson John Minto says MANA's Hone Heke Financial Transaction Tax aimed at corporate wealth will provide the money necessary for NZ to offer free education for all.
"Education is the most important gift democracy offers it's citizens and the user pays extremes of both National and Labour have lumbered a generation with student debt which forces them to leave the country in order to pay it off.
“How counterproductive.”
He says MANA will offer free tertiary education and training to New Zealand citizens who remain in the country for a period equal to that which it took to gain the qualification.
“If New Zealanders are prepared to stay in NZ after being educated, MANA are prepared to encourage that."
John Minto says there is absolutely no excuse for a country with the natural abundance of New Zealand to be neglecting its young people and those who want a second chance and MANA will see to it that does not continue.
