Six candidates vying for spot on council
Rotorua 28 September 2011 - Six candidates have been confirmed for the Rotorua district by-election to replace former councillor Geoff Kenny.
Nominations closed at midday today [28 September] and nominations have been received from Bill Hedges, Cliff Lee, Brett Marvelly, Merepeka Raukawa-Tait, Victor Storey, and Dianne Western.
Delivery of voting papers starts on Tuesday 25 October and special voting begins on Thursday 3 November.
Polling closes 12 noon Thursday 17 November. The electoral officer should announce preliminary results of the by-election later in the afternoon on Polling Day, with a formal declaration of final results to follow five days later on 22 November.
