EMA has New Opportunity on Pay Equity

The Pay Equity Challenge Coalition has said that the appointment of the new CEO for the EMA (Northern), Mr Kim Campbell provides an opportunity for the organisation to take a strong and enlightened approach to pay equity.

“The new CEO would be in good company in focusing on pay equity as only last week the World Bank identified decreasing the gender gaps in earning is one of their four chief policy areas,” says Angela McLeod, Pay Equity Challenge Coalition spokesperson.

“Mr Campbell’s focus on assisting New Zealand in reaching its potential over the longer term along with his commitment to sustainability gives us hope that reducing the gender pay gap will be part of new EMA policy.”

Angela McLeod said “NZ can reach its potential by increasing the productivity of the NZ economy through valuing the contribution of women and improving pay and employment equity”.

“Sustainable business practice must also include pay equity and given past comments by the former CEO of EMA Northern, we look forward to hearing early signals of change from the new leadership.”

“We will be extending an invitation to meet with him soon to discuss the pay equity measures and all of the options for closing the gender pay gap”
