Deregulation will cost families dearly says academic
Dr. Peter Cleave, Mana Movement candidate for the Rangitikei electorate, and prominent New Zealand academic has said that electricity deregulation is costing families dearly.
He has cited the example of the 'smart metering' policy that was recently featured on “Fair Go”, in which lines companies were charging unreasonable amount for electricity use.
“Isolated communities are particularly hard hit”, says Dr. Cleave. “We notice this mainly in remote areas and in regions which have higher Maori or Pacific Island populations.”
Dr. Cleave is campaigning on the message of lost communities and the need to reclaim them for the sake of the health of the country as a whole.
