Harawira – Sykes Go Walkabout In The Waiariki
It's
not every day a combo of this caliber is on offer. Back by
demand MANA Party's Hone Harawira and Annette Sykes will
tour the Waiariki electorate over the next two days.
"Every time I come to Waiariki I can't help but feel the demand for change, and the change the people want is Annette" says party leader Hone Harawira. “I’m looking forward to touring Waiariki with my Annette and her people”
Grassroots whanau are at the top of the list for Harawira and Sykes with visits to rural areas a real priority.
"The true heroes and heroines of the present economic malaise that has affected small communities are the Mums and Dads of communities like Minginui, Kaingaroa, Waiohau, and Te Teko those who have deep relationships to their ancestral territories and have forsaken the lure of labour intensive jobs in Australia and further afar to ensure the marae and the communities they grew up in are maintained and supported and that there is food and shelter for their children and mokopuna. But all are struggling and MANA has identified a number of policy priorities to assist our communities to recover from the 27 years of Rogernomics, and new right policies that have caused a major deterioration in the way of life of all”.
With the election looming Annette wants to ensure her voters understand it's their voice and concerns she will carry to parliament.
"The people we are talking with are very clear that they want the goal of full employment to be a cornerstone of any welfare state and as a nation we need to be promoting policies that achieve this rather than pursuing purely profit motives that make the rich richer and export job opportunities to foreign lands to capitalise from."
The tour will start at the MANA Waiariki Office 0800 Tuesday 1 Nov.
