Mana Rally The Masses In Response To Maketu Call For Help
As Maketu braces for the worst MANA Waiariki remains ready to respond amidst fears that the Rena will break up.
Set to be the worst hit area, volunteers are on standby in Maketu ready to kick in.
MANA candidate for Waiariki Annette Sykes says today's tour of the Waiariki with MANA leader Hone Harawira couldn't have been timed better.
"Maketu is the birthplace of Te Arawa. It is an absolute travesty that this disaster is poised to affect my own backyard and there has been little resources for us to manage this."
Hone Harawira says he's not surprised to see MANA Waiariki mobilise immediately to help their whanau at Maketu.
"A threat to Maketu is a threat to all Maori.
"Any support we can provide I urge our people to give," Mr Harawira says.
