Show us the jobs Mr Key - Mana
Unemployment up to 6.6%, Maori unemployment at 13.2%:
Show us the jobs Mr Key
Prime Minister John Key should stop yelling 'show me the money' and start 'showing us the jobs' says Mana Economic Justice spokesperson John Minto.
How on earth can John Key claim a rise in our unemployment rate to 6.6% shows confidence returning to the economy?
The unemployment rate actually went up during the Rugby World Cup, which was supposed to provide many more jobs and flood the economy with disposable income. It was supposed to create a windfall for business. None of this happened and taxpayers are left with the bills while the big profits headed overseas.
Meanwhile Maori unemployment at 13.2% is double the national rate. Maori are suffering a crisis-level depression but there is no sign of any policy or programme from the National/Act/Maori Party alliance.
And to add to the stress on low-income communities Social Welfare Minister Paula Bennett intends to force thousands of solo mothers and sick and ill back to work.
It's all a pathetic farce - Where are the jobs Mr Key?
