Is Winston rebelling against New Zealand First?

Winston Peters is not yet back in Parliament, yet New Zealand First’s ‘fundamental principles’ appear to have already been abandoned by its leader.

“Listed after ‘honest government’ Mr Peter’s party claims to stand for referenda to determine electoral reform,” points out Vote for Change spokesperson Jordan Williams. “But Mr Peters wants us to vote to keep-MMP so the politicians can tinker with the system how they like. Only a vote for change gives us a second referendum.”

“On Saturday we are having a referendum on whether to have a referendum on MMP. Despite New Zealand First’s fundamental principle for electoral referenda, Mr Peters wants to shutdown the debate by telling his followers to vote to keep the current system. Maybe New Zealand First only wants electoral referenda that suit them?”

“The politicians have set it up to allow them to ultimately determine what our voting system looks like. The only way for voters to keep control is to vote for change.”

“The only way to ensure a charlatan like Winston cannot chose New Zealand’s Prime Minister is to Vote for Change on Saturday. Winston has proven that he cannot resist the baubles of office rather than act in accordance to his promises.”

“New Zealanders should know who their Prime Minister is on election night. They should not have to wait while one self important peacock feeds his vanity by holding a bidding war for his support.”
