Trading with the future of the poor
Trading with the future of the poor
‘John Key promises poor people a brighter future and then gives them a terrible poverty,’ says Dr Peter Cleave, Mana candidate, Rangitikei.
‘It’s no wonder they call him Gecko after the character in the movie ‘Wall Street’. Or is the character played by Michael Douglas in the movie actually based on John Key?’
‘John Key is giving people the shadow of rangatiratanga. He offers the Maori Party and Act a share in government. In exchange John Key will give fewer jobs, sub- standard housing and a lower standard of living. And then he will sell their assets back to them at a price. John Key promises a brighter future and takes people back into the worst days of the colonial past,’ said Dr Cleave.
‘John Key trades on the racism of the Act Party with one hand and he trades on the readiness of the Maori Party to be part of government at any cost with the other.’
‘The poor live in the present as a matter of necessity. Trading with their future, the future of such assets as they have left, is a sick game,’ said Dr Cleave in an internet posting today after campaigning in Rangitikei for Mana.
