Lady Janine Mateparae, wife of the Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, will be unable to attend tomorrow’s (21 December 2011) State Opening of Parliament.
Sometime ago, Lady Janine was booked for a surgical procedure that now clashes with the State Opening.
Lady Janine said she was disappointed that she would not be able to support Sir Jerry at the ceremony, but looked forward to attending the next State Opening in three years’ time.
