Second Incident in Afghanistan – Release
1
The NZ Defence Force today can confirm that
members of the New Zealand Provincial Reconstruction Team
(PRT) in the village of Do Abe, came under fire from small
arms and Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), last evening
Afghan time.
“Our personnel returned fire. We also
dispatched other forces in support of our people in Do
Abe,” says Lieutenant General Jones. “In addition, our
Coalition partners provided significant air
support.”
The enemy fire ceased around midnight (local
Afghan time).
There were no casualties sustained by the
PRT during this contact.
“We have begun reviewing this
attack, which will feed into our picture of the security
challenges in this part of Bamyan,” says Lieutenant
General Jones.
