Drivers encouraged to plan ahead for their road trips this Labour Weekend, says the NZTA
With Labour Weekend approaching, the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is advising motorists to plan for their journeys in order to have safe and relaxing trip if they are holidaying in the Bay of Plenty region.
Holiday makers should take extra care when travelling on Bay of Plenty roads particularly State Highway 2 and State Highway 29 which will have increased traffic volumes during the long weekend.
The NZ Transport Agency’s Bay of Plenty state highways manager, Brett Gliddon says, "We want drivers to reach their destinations safely and without any necessary stress. Therefore, allow sufficient time to get to your destination, making sure you drive to the posted speed limit, adjusting your speed when necessary (to suit the conditions) and to take regular breaks particularly if driving long distances.”
Mr Gliddon says, there are no planned works on Bay of Plenty state highway roads this labour weekend, however drivers should always check for any changes on the agency’s website www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic or by calling the NZTA freephone 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).
